New QC for Axiom

Four advocates have taken silk, after being approved by Her Majesty for “the rank and dignity” of Queen’s Counsel.
They are: Roisin Higgins, Dr Kirsty Hood, Shelagh McCall and Dr Joseph Morrow. Sheriff Kenneth Maciver was also appointed a QC.
The new silks were welcomed by Lord Justice Clerk, Lord Carloway, at the ceremony marking the opening of the new legal year in the First Division courtroom in Parliament House.
He said: “For each of you, the rank and dignity of Queen’s Counsel is hard-earned and well deserved. I wish you the best of good fortune in this new chapter of your respective careers.”
Roisin Higgins who is a member of Axiom joined Faculty in 2000, after two years as a solicitor, and has pursued a practice in commercial litigation with a special interest in intellectual property. She is a committee member of the intellectual Property Lawyers Organisation, and chairs the Faculty’s World Intellectual Property Day Conference.
Stable Director Roddy Dunlop QC said: “Roisin has the warmest of congratulations from all at Axiom for her well-deserved recognition as one of this year’s new silks. Her expertise in Intellectual Property is of international renown, and the Scottish Bar as a whole will benefit from her admission as one of Her Majesty’s counsel.”
